If there’s one thing that holds us back from perturbation en-route success is stories of actual heroes and warrior princess who’ve proved time and again that ‘age is just a number’. With firm resilience, comes the obstinacy to do dare the impossible. At an age where people wish upon settling well within the glass cubicles of a well-famed corporate magnum, Captain Anny Divya (age 30) has proudly bagged the label of being the youngest commander to fly the Boeing 777.
Amidst the fad of practicing medicine, pursuing certificates in engineering courses, or following the in-style obsession of ‘startup’, the woman had the mettle to reach out for the ‘untouched’. Divya sealed her spunk of ‘flying-high’ ever since her school days when her peer-group was more into taking up professional careers.
Her zeal of shaping the dreams helped her through Uttar Pradesh’s institute of pilot training named- Gandhi Rashtriya Udaan Academy. However, her parent’s support worked magical as well, in overwhelming the hurdles that came by.
With a woman, earning a job at Air Asia post her training completion at the mere age of 19 is what makes most of us re-define ‘intrepidness’. How easily we give up on lives and hopes, happily blaming the fate and the stars, how easily we call in for ‘substitutes’ to hard work and throw in the towel that rounds in for a little dust of courage. But imagine the amount of gusto that kept Captain Divya wrapped up in sheer assiduity.
Success isn’t a doddle but expects your fervor in it, without which it becomes preposterous. To remain enrapt over your dreams is an art and is often a child’s play. Getting off the track, while on your way to taste the flavors of success can be pretty much a child’s play, but what possibly made Divya the youngest Boeing 777 commander is nothing more than her absolute staying power, doggedness and the hunger to pick on something challenging, instead of following the ‘sheep herd’.
It’s a delight to witness women reaching the moon, to building spacecraft, playing hockey and doing their country proud, taking to the cricket fields, gas stations, flying aircrafts while performing her duty of housekeeper as well. While Divya goes on to being labeled as the youngest commanders to fly Boeing 777 and put into foray the examples on how to shine above the rest, she also did make us put on thinking caps over the most sensationalized topic of feminism, women empowerment.
We are far behind from realizing that women empowerment is not about taking to the streets, nude, with posters screaming ‘rights’ or shedding of the bras to channel the ‘devil-may-care’ attitude: women empowerment has been truly modeled by Commander Divya who chose her path of fame through rigorous hard-work and potency.
Commander Anny is one of those red-blooded warriors who kept her chin and zeal high through the hardships, for the sake of tasting; what others might raise their brows at, or throw a look of surprise at. One of those few women, who chose to chose to break the walls, the society had built for her, and come out to dazzle and shine.
We pray for more such blue-eyed girl who shall lead us through uncertainties with their deeds of greatness and passion.
